On Friday, French President François Hollande threw his weight behind a potential strike against Syria, saying in an interview that “the chemical massacre of Damascus cannot and must not remain unpunished.”
He added: “There are few countries with the capacities to inflict sanctions with the appropriate means. France is among those. It is ready.”
He later spoke on the phone with President Obama. On Thursday, the U.K. voted against supporting military action, throwing off Obama’s hopes for an international coalition. Read more at The Wall Street Journal.
