Frustrated Senate Republicans lashed out at Sen. Rand Paul Thursday evening for his refusal to allow a vote on a budget deal, a move that could force a temporary government shutdown.

Sen. John Cornyn, the No. 2 Senate Republican, warned Paul during a heated back-and-forth on the Senate floor that he would be to blame for shutting down the government.

“I don’t know why we are basically burning time here while the senator from Kentucky and others are sitting in the cloakroom wasting everybody’s time and inconveniencing the staff,” he said.

Cornyn added that Paul “will effectively shut down the federal government for no real reason.”

  1. Good that some one has enough integrity to tell the congress that they are wasting money and spending on stupidity, but since there are no parties anymore just the party of ME and what can I get for it and how I can sell my soul for extra money there will be no budget that is for the people not the phonies that say they are for the people. Most is for the free money, free medical, free everything for life to those who are not invited, but congress has to kiss butts so they can get elected. Keep on voting for the same old and you will get the same old, unless you are collecting the free stuff and it is then very good. Yes the peons of this country who are paying the bill as usual.
