G7 to Impose New Sanctions on Russia


obama2The leaders of the Group of Seven nations have agreed to impose new, targeted sanctions against Russia as a result of the Ukraine crisis. In a statement, leaders of the U.S., the U.K., France, Germany, Italy, Canada and Japan said, “Given the urgency of securing the opportunity for a successful and peaceful democratic vote next month in Ukraine’s presidential elections, we have committed to act urgently to intensify targeted sanctions and measures to increase the costs of Russia’s actions.”

A senior American official said each country “will determine which targeted sanctions they will impose,” and the the U.S. could take action as early as Monday. Read more at the Wall Street Journal.
