The family of Eric Garner spoke out Wednesday night following a Staten Island grand jury’s decision not to indict the NYPD officer who placed an ultimately lethal chokehold on him.
“I will fight until the end,” his widow, Esaw Garner, said. “I am determined to get justice for my husband because he should not have been killed in that way.”
She also rejected the apologetic statement released by Daniel Pantaleo follow the grand jury’s decision. “The time for remorse was when my husband was living and breathing,” she said. At the same time, Garner’s mother encouraged the public to be non-violent. “Do what you have to but do it in peace,” she said. Read more at Capital New York.
