garner-protests-hit-new-york-cityProtests against the grand jury’s decision in the Eric Garner case took place all over Manhattan on Wednesday. Hundreds staged a “die-in” at Grand Central Terminal, while others took over portions of the West Side Highway.

“I can’t breath” was chanted by protesters in Times Square to evoke Garner’s dying words when NYPD officer Daniel Pantaleo placed him in a chokehold. “A murderer was caught on camera, and for whatever reason they [the grand jury] decided to let a murder go free, and this keeps happening,” said Adina Bloom, who joined the protests at Rockefeller Center.

The protests have been generally peaceful, though, with relatively few arrests. Other cities, including Washington D.C., experienced protests in response to the grand jury’s decision, as well. Read more at NBC News.
