[Photos below.] At the end of this past week, the Slabodka Yeshiva in Bnei Brak, Yeshiva Knesses Yisroel, held a massive chanukas habayis celebration in honor of the opening of its new building, Chemdas Yisroel, dedicated in memory of R’ Yisroel Yehudah Karfunkel z”l. On hand were members of the Karfunkel family, who joined the roshei yeshiva of the yeshiva, including Rav Moshe Hillel Hirsch, Rav Dov Landau and Rav Nachman Plunchik.
Many gedolim from across Bnei Brak attended the event. These included Rav Chaim Kanievsky, Rav Aharon Leib Shteinman, Rav Nissim Karelitz, Rav Michel Yehudah Lefkowitz, and Rav Gershon Edelstein.
