Georgia Regional Airport Renamed to Honor…Jimmy Carter

However, despite its small size, this airport is in the news after the local city┬ácouncil decided to rename it after Jimmy Carter. This measure has annoyed some citizens groups, as the original name for the airport was not without its own history.Souther Field was named after Henry Souther, who helped develop the airfield, and the landing strip was where Charles Lindbergh made his first ever solo flight.
