The pilot of the Germanwings plane that plunged into the French Alps pleaded with the co-pilot who locked him out moments before crashing, a German newspaper reported on Sunday.

“For God’s sake, open the door,” Captain Patrick Sonderheimer can be heard saying on the cockpit voice recordings recovered from the crash site, according to German newspaper Bild am Sonntag.

The audio has yet to be publicly released but the paper published what purports to be a summary of the transcript from the recording.

Andreas Lubitz, 27, is silent as the pilot is heard trying to break the door open while passengers are screaming in the background, according to the report. It’s unclear what the captain was using in his attempt to break open the cockpit door. Read more at CNN.
