giuliani2Although Republican voters have yet to solidify around a single candidate, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani told TRNS this weekend that he doesn’t regret sitting out of the 2012 race.

“I continue to think I wouldn’t [have been] nominated,” Giuliani said. “These other candidates have a much better chance of being nominated than I do because of … positions that are very much a part of me on gay rights and women’s rights.”

Added Giuliani, “I have a realistic idea of the Republican primary field.”

While the former Mayor wouldn’t speculate over who he believes will ultimately walk away with the nomination, he noted that he’s confident a Republican will be elected in November.

“Just like other Republicans, they all have their pros and cons, but they’re all much better for this country than Barack Obama,” Giuliani said.

Giuliani, the mayor during the 9/11 terror attacks, ran unsuccessfully for the Republican nomination in 2008.

  1. I will never forgive Rudy for not winning in 08. He would have made a fantastic President. Anyone who can do what he did to New York, would have straightened this country out Instead look what we have.

  2. Chana, WADR I think you need to let go of your pain and go on with your life, or at least aim your anger at whoever was truly responsible for his not winning 😉
