If Republicans want to prevail in the 2016 presidential contest against presumed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton, the best advice they should take is “don’t be too mean,” said former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani.
“The wrong way is to be too aggressive, and be too mean, and to ever get personal,” he said Wednesday in an interview with Politico. “The right way to do it is on policy and on true contribution.”
Giuliani, who had expected to face off against Clinton during his own brief bid for the White House for 2008, said Clinton’s main weakness is her policy background.
“She’s a candidate who, with her baggage, can be beaten by the right candidate who handles it the right way and by the right campaign who handles it the right way,” he said.
“As a first lady, she tried one thing and failed,” he said, referring to her attempt to pass national healthcare reform under her husband’s tenure.
“As a secretary of state, she traveled the world, and I would argue every place she traveled, maybe an exception here or there that don’t mean very much, is in worse shape today than it was then.”

The Republicans are doomed for 2016. They will be running on a platform calling for the cancellation of the health insurance of eight million Americans and the deportation of the close relatives of five million Americans. That is 10% of the number of votes that were cast in 2012. No matter how soft-spoken the Republicans will try to be about this (and some of them are anything BUT soft-spoken) this will be seen as mean.
