Google Blames Wikipedia for Search Result Calling GOP Nazis 

Google has blamed Wikipedia “vandalism” for search results that said the ideology of the California Republican Party included Nazism. The results, which appeared in a Google information box captured in a screenshot by Vice News on Thursday, have now been removed.

California Rep. Kevin McCarthy, the House Republican leader, tweeted that the Google result was a “disgrace” while California Republican Party Executive Director Cynthia Bryant called the result “libelous.” Google explained the error in a statement, saying: “We have systems in place that catch vandalism before it impacts search results, but occasionally errors get through, and that’s what happened here. This would have been fixed systematically once we processed the removal from Wikipedia, but when we noticed the vandalism we worked quickly to accelerate this process to remove the erroneous information.” Read more at The Telegraph.
