google-gmailGoogle has expanded its VoIP calling service beyond the US market, launching its service in 38 languages with payment options in four currencies.

As of Wednesday, Google has made it possible for users of its Google Talk chat services to call landline and mobile phones around the world.

The software giant had launched a rather limited VoIP service last year, but has now taken a giant leap forward, allowing people across the globe to call mobiles or landlines for a matter of cents per minutes.

Users can now pay for the service using either Euros, British pounds, Canadian or U.S. dollars, with language support rolling out to all accounts over the next four days.

According to a company blog post on the subject, “It’s now only $0.10 (or €0.08) per minute to call mobile phones in the U.K., France or Germany (landlines are $0.02/min), $0.15/minute to call mobile phones in Mexico and $0.02/min to call any phone number in China and India.” The complete list of call rates can be seen on Google’s rates page.

Those in the US and Canada will also continue to be eligible for free calls both within the country and to each other for the remainder of 2011, through the Voice and Video Call Plugin.
