GOP Rep: Russia Merely Did What Media Couldn’t

Republican Representative Trent Franks said on MSNBC that Russian hacking of the emails from the Democratic National Committee and Hillary Clinton campaign chairman “succeeded” in providing information that the media could not obtain, the Daily Beast reports.

“I’m all for doing what’s necessary to protect the election here,” Franks began. “But there’s no suggestion that Russia hacked into our voting systems or anything like that. If anything, whatever they may have done was to try to use information in a way that may have affected something that they believe was in their best interest. But the bottom line, if they succeeded, if Russia succeeded, in giving the American people information that was accurate, then they merely did what the media should have done.”

  1. Why has Hillary been treated like she is innocent?

She, and her friends are the ones who said bad things
The hackers merely exposed her true words and feelings.

  2. “But the bottom line, if they succeeded, if Russia succeeded, in giving the American people information that was accurate, then they merely did what the media should have done.”
What idiocy. Does Rep. Franks also believe that all internal GOP emails that were intended as private communication should be hacked and publicized?

  3. While it may be true that everything leaked was true (so “let the chips fall where they may”), one would have to be a ninny to assume that the Russians engaged in an altruistic pursuit of the Freedom of Information on behalf of the Public’s Right to Know. One would have to be doubly a ninny to imagine that only what was embarrassing to the Democrats got hacked and leaked because the Russians were incapable of rooting out similarly embarrassing and incriminating stuff among the players in the GOP camp. And one would have to be the Mother of All Ninnies to suppose that the Russians zeroed in on crippling the Clinton campaign because they want to “make America great again….”
