gemaraAn group of prominent leaders from a cross section of the Torah community is expected to converge on Monsey on Sunday afternoon March 17th (6 Nissan) at 3 pm to participate in the groundbreaking of a new magnificent Oiz Vehadar international center of Torah learning and research. The Center is the brainchild of Harav Yehoshua Leifer, shlita, the founder of Oiz Vehadar nearly 25 years ago. He is the son of the late revered Rav of Temeshvar in Yerushalayim and a son-in-law of Rav Moshe Neuschloss zt”l.

In addition to a magnificent Bais Medrash and Mikvah, the Center will be home to many of the researchers worldwide that have produced over 300 volumes on shas, yerushalmi, Tenach, and many more topics. The popular Mesivta is used by participants of the Daf Yom throughout the world as the most comprehensive commentary on shas and poskim, opening up new vistas for those who seek illuminating additions to the Gemara, Rashi and Tosfos.  Oiz Vehadar makes available various options for learning the Daf Yomi, from full volumes such as Mesivta to smaller soft cover editions for travelers. Most of the other publications also illuminate the content in an unprecedented manner that has been termed by many Gedolei Yisroel as the most important works on Torah in modern-day history. The seforim of Oiz Vehadar enable students to learn with the kind of intensity that they would be learning alongside a prestigious rebbe.

Oiz Vehadar has managed to attract a broad constituency of Jews across the globe who not only support this historic initiative, but whose lives have been changed as a result of the unprecedented presentation of Torah that defines the character of Oiz Vehadar publications. “Our main mission is to strengthen limud Hatorah at all levels and to allow Jews to learn Torah the way it was meant to be,” said Harav Leifer, who pointed to the thousands of students who have advanced from perfunctory learning to serious comprehension of Torah materials.

The second story of the planned Oiz Vehadar Building will house a sizable Torah center, the Heichal HaTorah. This hall will be specifically geared towards intense learning. It will include an

Otzar HaSeforim with tens of thousands of seforim on all aspects of Torah. In addition, there will be a special hall with all of the magnificent seforim of Oiz Vehadar. It will also be a place where a team of researchers under the guidance of Harav Leifer will continue to research and develop future volumes of seforim, complimenting the impressive operation in Eretz Yisroel.

The Center will sponsor frequent shiurim and seminars, including special sessions on working with manuscripts.  “The holy work of Oiz Vehadar will take on new momentum as the Center in Monsey compliments the operation in Eretz Yisroel with some 400 talmidei chachomim who are involved in delving into the depths of Torah to illuminate the rich well of Torah knowledge,” said Harav Leifer.

In addition to Harav Leifer, many Gedolei Yisroel are expected to address the event.

  1. The Mesivta gemaras are simply incredible – they open up a whole new world of learning – I wish they would redo the Mishneh Berurah Hemevoar on Chelek 4 – Eruv – it is still in the original print and does not compare to the other chalokim which are much easier to follow along in –
