HarperCollins Publishers apologized for omitting Israel from maps used in atlases for English-speaking schools in Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East.
The maps label Gaza and the West Bank but do not demarcate Israel, instead depicting Jordan and Syria as extending all the way to the Mediterranean Sea.
“HarperCollins regrets the omission of the name Israel from their Collins Middle East Atlas,” the publishing company said. “This product has now been removed from sale in all territories and all remaining stock will be pulped. HarperCollins sincerely apologizes for this omission and for any offense caused.”
Before the apology, Collins Bartholomew-the subsidiary of HarperCollins that specializes in maps-had told The Tablet, a Catholic weekly newspaper in the United Kingdom, that including Israel would have been “unacceptable” to Arab customers in the Middle East and that the maps were adjusted to meet “local preferences.”
“The willful error was exacerbated by the initial tone-deaf defense by HarperCollins of its decision. … Does the publisher’s acquiescence to ‘local preferences’ take into account that many of Israel’s neighbors have the singular goal of destroying Israel and its people?” B’nai B’rith International said in a statement.

Apology NOT accepted! These Liberal pieces of trash thought they could get away with it & low and behold, got caught. They don’t mean it.
Maybe they can erase Syria, Iraq, etc. from the maps before they sell it to Israel and the United States, and other countries that wish them gone. How can you believe a map maker who makes maps to appease countries, you wonder what else is missing because someone doesn’t like the country. Maybe we should check other countries map books, for maybe the United States is not on maps either because a country would like the US gone.
They willfully deleted it means they edit and facts. Their products are thus unreliable! Any teacher making uae of their product can’t rely on the prestine reputation any longer. It’s now a ‘cut and paste operation’ based on customer request. So they’re not a fact-base corperation rather a customized-to-fit as per customer request operation: much like Barney’s New York or Jos. A. Bank.
It was not an “ommission”, it was a LIE. What they are saying is they would lie for sales o political savvy.
They thought they could sneak this one past the Jews, only we caught on, so they “apologized”.
