ponovezh-thief-2[Photos below.] Last night, police were called to the Ponevezh Yeshiva in Bnei Brak after a man was observed trying to steal a jacket and hat from inside the yeshiva.

The police and members of the local volunteer Shomrim patrol apprehended the man.

During interrogation, the man admitted that his plan was to steal jackets in order to gain access to houses in the city, presumably by using keys and identification info found in the jackets.

The police said that they recognized the suspect and that he has a criminal past, having committed various thefts.

  1. in re: to “”rosh hashana”” of why he took the hats ??? it is a very good question .. i beleive the answer can be found in the famous gemara B.K. 79B where it is explained the difference between a burglar and a theif.. this gentelman was obviously afraid of the ponovizhers seeing him go without a hat and this would have caught their attention so everytime he took a hat as well. !!!

  2. If these are really emesdike yeshiva bachurim, why did they take their hats off bechlal????? WAKE UP KLAL YISRAEL THIS IS A SIMAN MIN HASHAMAYIM!!!!

  3. do you really learn with your hat on all day? Doesn’t it get hot? To wear their hats when they are not davening is very controversial and re #4 I do not agree with you.
