hikind1Assemblyman Dov Hikind (D-Brooklyn) said he will be attending the funeral of NYPD officer Wenjian Liu and is urging other members of the Jewish community to join him in a strong show of solidarity with the police.

“The brave men and women of the NYPD risk their lives every day protect us,” said Hikind. “We value them and stand with them.”

Aievoli Funeral Home says Officer Liu’s funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Sunday, January 3 at the funeral home in Brooklyn.

Liu and his partner, Officer Rafael Ramos, were shot to death inside their patrol car on Dec. 20 by a gunman who had posted online about plans to attack police.

Liu, 32, was a seven-year police veteran and served in the police auxiliary.

“We are more than appreciative of what New York’s Finest do and we should convey that,” said the Assemblyman. “Their loss is our loss.”

  1. See my letter-to-the-editor published in the
English language Yated Jewish newspaper, of the
week before this past, 12-26-14, in which I tell
of my going to the police station nearest to my home, that of the 70th police precinct, to truly express my condolences for Ramos and Liu.

I certainly plan to attend Liu’s funeral today.
