Hillary Clinton 2016: Democrats Top Choice, Poll Suggests

Here’s a text to Hillary: Run in 2016.

Several years out, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton holds a whopping lead over other possible Democratic candidates for the White House, according to a new survey out Tuesday.

Clinton received 57 percent to Vice President Joe Biden’s 14 percent, according to Public Policy Polling.

Elizabeth Warren, currently running for a Senate seat in Massachusetts, gets 6 percent, while New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo receives 5 percent. Former Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold receives 3 percent.

Clinton dominates the field, taking a majority of “very liberal” voters, moderates, women, men, whites, African Americans, Hispanics and seniors.

With Clinton out of the race, Biden would lead the pack with 32 percent, followed by Cuomo with 18 percent, and 8 percent for Feingold.

The secretary of state has said she doesn’t intend to run for president in 2016.

“I think after 20 years – and it will be 20 years – of being on the high wire of American politics and all of the challenges that come with that, it would be probably a good idea to just find out how tired I am,” she said while discussing her future in January.

But Tuesday’s poll, along with the new coolness factor received with the emergence of the “Texts from Hillary” meme, is sure to put a spring in the step of those who might still be encouraging her to change her mind.

A series of parody photos on the Tumblr “Texts From Hillary Clinton,” featuring the sunglasses-clad Secretary of State checking her BlackBerry while seated on a military plane, went viral last week. The website even got a nod of approval from Clinton herself, who submitted her own parody image.

Meanwhile, on the Republican side, the early 2016 rankings favor New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, who receives 21 percent support.

Former presidential candidate Mike Huckabee and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush lag slightly behind at 17 percent, with Rick Santorum at 12 percent and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio at 10 percent. Paul Ryan, Rand Paul and Bobby Jindal stand at 7 percent, 4 percent and 3 percent, respectively.
