belgium[Update below.] There is a hostage situation reportedly underway near a business school in Roubaix, a northern French town near the border with Belgium.

According to multiple reports, there are gunshot victims, and Agence France-Presse suggests there are multiple gunmen involved.

It is unclear, at the moment, if the standoff has any connection to recent terrorist threats. Roubaix is roughly an hour away from Brussels, the Belgian capital currently under lockdown following the terror attacks in Paris. Read more at BBC News.

UPDATE: The hostages were freed at a home in Roubaix, a northern French town near the border with Belgium. According to multiple reports, the incident was a domestic robbery gone awry, and has no connection to the terror attacks in Paris ten days ago. One suspect has been arrested, and all hostages are reportedly safe.
