House Committee Votes to Give Baby Charlie Gard a U.S. Visa

The British baby at the center of a global fight over parents’ rights and life-saving treatment could be granted a U.S. visa so that he can receive care in an American hospital. Charlie has a rare genetic disease and doctors in Britain say it would be kinder to switch off his life-support machine against his parents’ wishes.

On Tuesday night, however, an amendment was unanimously adopted by the House Appropriations committee that would grant the Gard family the right to travel to the U.S. for treatment if the Appropriations Bill is passed. Read more at CNN.
