House OKs Trillions in Spending Cuts

House Republicans pushed through a budget on Wednesday that prescribes trillions in budget cuts over the next decade in order to eliminate deficits.

The budget calls for $5 trillion in cuts, a repeal of President Obama’s health care law, and changes to the tax code and Medicare.

The Associated Press calls details of the budget “sketchy,” but notes that most of the savings would come from Medicaid, food stamps and welfare. The Senate is expected to propose its own budget bill by the end of the week. Read more.
