Rep. Steve Scalise admitted to speaking at a meeting hosted by white nationalist leaders in 2002. The Louisiana lawmaker confirmed he attended a meeting organized by EURO (the European-American Unity and Rights Organization), which was founded by David Duke, former grand wizard of the Ku Klux Klan, and is recognized by the Southern Poverty Law Center as a hate group.
In a statement, Scalise’s spokesperson said he then was unaware of the group’s ideology and was speaking to promote his proposal on eliminating slush funds, adding: “He has never been affiliated with the abhorrent group in question. The hate-fueled ignorance and intolerance that group projects is in stark contradiction to what Mr. Scalise believes and practices as a father, a husband, and a devoted Catholic.” Read more at The Washington Post.

Not to long ago there was a sen. Robert byrd the love of the Democratic party who was at one time the grand wizard of the kkk. He never ever apologized for that period on his life!
