Hundreds of mourners in Yerushalayim laid to rest an Israeli man on Friday who was stabbed to death by a Palestinian assailant in the West Bank a day earlier.
Yotam Ovadia, 31, succumbed to his wounds in hospital in the early hours of Friday after being seriously injured when Mohammed Tarek, 17, broke into the settlement of Adam and stabbed passers-by with a knife before being shot dead.
He left behind a wife, Tal and two children, Harel and Itai. Senior government minister Yariv Levin attended Ovadia’s funeral in the Givat Shaul neighborhood, along with hundreds of friends and family, according to local media reports.
“Your life was taken for one reason only, because you are Jewish,” Haaretz newspaper quoted Levin as saying. “I have nothing to say to comfort you but our enemies should know that our spirit shall not break. The lowly terrorist will not achieve his goals.”
