Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed reports that its aircraft fired into Syria Wednesday evening, in retaliation, after two rockets fired from Syria landed into the Kinneret on Wednesday evening.

The IDF said it specifically targeted the launcher responsible for the rockets that crossed into Israeli territory.

“In response to the two rockets launched at Israeli territory from Syria, IDF aircraft targeted the rocket launcher it was fired from. The area surrounding it was targeted by artillery,” the IDF statement said.

The two BM-21 rockets that crossed into Israel were said to be spillover from internal fighting in Syria between Assad’s army and IS-affiliated rebels.
