A Code Red rocket alert was sounded at 9:05 a.m. today in two towns in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council, where a rocket fired from the Gaza Strip landed in an open area and precipitated an IDF retaliatory attack on a Hamas outpost inside the strip, Ynet reports.

According to the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit, no damage or injuries were caused by the rocket. Forces were dispatched to the site of its landing to search for remnants.

Shortly afterwards, Maan reports, Israel launched airstrikes in the northern Gaza Strip, hours after an Israeli army tank fired two shells into eastern Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza.

At around 2 p.m., the Israeli army launched airstrikes at an open area and “a resistance post” west of Beit Lahiya, injuring one person identified by locals sources as Muhammad Mousa Saad Allah, who the sources said was a fisherman. The extent of his injuries remained unclear.
