IDF Furious Over Palestinian Site Airing Leaked Video of Hamas SEAL Raid

By D. Bender

Israeli army officials are outraged over the appearance on a Palestinian website of what appears to be a leaked internal video analysis of two foiled Hamas sea-borne commando raids during Operation Protective Edge, the Israeli 0404 News site said on Thursday.

On July 8th and in a near-identical attack on July 9th, IDF spotters identified the assaults. Ground troops, helicopters and offshore patrol craft quickly engaged the squads from the moment they tried to reach the shore, and then ‏as they attempted to reach populated areas.

The nearly six-minute-long debriefing video and audio is made up, in part, of an amalgam of CCTV footage from secretive army human and electronic surveillance outposts close to the beach at the northern end of the Gaza Strip.

The cuts, taken from various locations, angles and heights, include manned and remote watch towers, helicopters, drones, seaborne weapons-systems viewfinders and targeting systems, and other cutting edge surveillance gear. All are synced together, and track the terrorist cells, decked out in full SEAL commando gear, as they came ashore near Kibbutz Zikim.

Scattered in the material are radio communications between the units coordinating the diverse army forces covering the area from the air, land, and sea, as they acquire, track, and, eventually, kill the intruders before they reach populated areas.

While the IDF Spokesman released truncated versions of the video clips soon after the attacks, the broadcast of the full, uncensored footage, in Arab media has alarmed military officials, since it may indicate lax protocols covering handling sensitive and possibly classified information.

‘This is an internal army analysis, whose revelation is a serious incident, and one that will be investigated and handled accordingly, and not via the media,” an IDF source told 0404.
