IDF Tank Strikes Hamas Post In Gaza After Terrorists Infiltrate Border, Throw Firebombs

Israel said Friday evening it retaliated with tank fire at a Hamas post in the southern Gaza Strip in response to Palestinians who had infiltrated the border fence and tossed IEDs, after protests and riots commenced in the afternoon.

“A short while ago, a number of suspects infiltrated into Israel from the southern Gaza Strip, hurled firebombs and an explosive device in the border fence area and then returned into the Gaza Strip,” the IDF stated.

“In response, an IDF tank targeted a Hamas military post in the southern Gaza Strip.”

At least 80 Palestinians were injured Friday evening, most of them from live fire in clashes with the Israeli army on the border, according to the Gaza Health Ministry. The IDF estimated the number of “violent rioters” at 8,000, “gathering in five locations along the Gaza Strip border, attempting to sabotage security infrastructure.”
