A four and a half meter tall gilded statue of Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu appeared in Tel Aviv’s Rabin Square this morning, reports i24 News.

“Has the time has come to put the leader’s golden statue in the town square?” mused the artist to Israel’s Channel 2. “For some it may provoke a sense of dread, and there are many that actually associate it with a sense of strength and great pride,” the artist notes, asking to remain anonymous.

“I usually deal with issues of freedom and free choice in my art, but all the developments that are happening around are not letting me work on what I’m working on normally,” the artist told Channel 2. “I wanted to get even through my art. The goal is to test the limits of freedom of expression in 2016 – What will happen when I place a statue like this?” the artist continued. “will it result in consequences, such as an arrest for example, or will they only remove it?”

A citation has been placed on the statue ordering the artist to remove it.
