Immigrants Bringing Diseases Across Border?

arizona-immigrationThere’s a growing health concern with hundreds of illegal immigrants crossing over into southern Texas.

U.S. Border Patrol agents are worried that what’s coming over into the U.S. could harm everyone.

This time the focus is not on the women and children that are crossing over in droves.

Agents are worrying about a viral outbreak.

“We are sending people everywhere. The average person doesn’t know what’s going on down here,” said Border Patrol agent and Rio Grande Valley Union representative Chris Cabrera.

Cabrera says agents are seeing illegal immigrants come over with contagious infections.

Detention centers and holding facilities have quarantined areas for those who come in sick. But Cabrera says the sick and healthy are separated only by caution tape.

“There’s been an outbreak of scabies that’s been going on for the past month,” Cabrera said.

  1. And given how bad that Texas’ health care system has become under the two decades of Republican rule, this isn’t likely to get better any time soon. Texans in the Rio Grande Valley cross the border to get health care they can afford.

  2. Mr Hall obviously you are living in a parallel universe, maybe Mr Obama’s universe. Wait until you are told by obamacare you are too old to have anything done to you and please just die, and it won’t be in Texas when they say that to you.

  3. abilenetx, you are among the most chutzpadik commmenters in history. The official Republican policy towards those who were unable to get health insurance prior to the enactment of the Affordable Care Act was that they should be left to die. They continue to prevent Medicaid from covering people who were left out of the Affordable Care Act in many states. Yet you accuse Obama of letting people die? Your rewrite of truth would be worthy of a job in the Information Ministry of a totalitarian state.

And you might try going to South Texas to experience the limited medical care that is available there. It remains one of the poorest regions in the entire US and the Republicans who run the state have cut funding for health care.

The truth is that it is the Republicans whose policy for anyone with a chronic is “let ’em die”
