Even before he was inaugurated, Donald Trump was already thinking about his second term, filing papers with the Federal Election Commission for his reelection in 2020, Newsmax reports. In contrast, Barack Obama filed for his reelection two years after his inauguration.

Trump moved to copyright the slogan he said would be the theme of his 2020 re-election campaign, “Keep America Great.” According to The Washington Times, Trump’s legal team filed paperwork with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office last Wednesday, two days before he was sworn into office as the nation’s 45th president.

The Times reports that the application stipulates the slogan can be used for certain articles of clothing like T-shirts and tank tops, along with “baby clothing, namely, one piece garments,” and “printed publications, namely, pamphlets providing information regarding Donald J. Trump as a political candidate.”

  1. can someone please tell me what is wrong with that? i’m quite sure that our former president also filed on day 1 of his 2008 term all the necessary papers for 2012. and i’ll bet the media never reported on it. we can’t pre-occupy ourselves with watching every single move our president makes! leave the guy alone and let him do his job, for heavens sakes!

  2. What Trump is doing, is terrible and must be stopped. How dare he do such a racist thing by registering so early. We must demonstrate this horrible development.

  3. I don’t understand the difference between filing the first day, after two years, or at any other time. Perhaps next up will be a debate on cellphones: right ear or left ear?
