Inhofe Blasts Obama For ‘Global-Warming Alarmism’

senator-jim-inhofeA report released Tuesday by the White House charges Americans “literally are destroying the Earth,” according to a critic, and lists threats ranging from longer growing seasons and carbon dioxide to rising ocean levels and less ice in the Arctic.

Or is that more ice?

Whatever.

Because meteorologist Brian Sussman, who authored “Climategate: A Veteran Meteorologist Exposes the Global Warming Scam,” said the agenda, and the report, are not necessarily linked to reality.

“Today the Obama administration released its gloom and doom National Climate Assessment. According to the 800-page report the carbon pollution created by Americans is literally destroying the Earth as we know it,” he said.

But consider the source, he suggested. Strongly.

“The assessment is being fronted by Obama’s handpicked science adviser, John Holdren. Holdren is an ultra-radical; in fact as a former Stanford and Harvard professor he is a mentor to many prominent eco-radicals. Holdren, like all from the eco-left, believes there are too many people on the planet. He also believes that the United States Constitution allows for imposing a forced abortion policy upon the American people.”

Sussman cited Holdren in his book “Climategate,”

Holdren has written: “Indeed, it has been concluded that compulsory population-control laws, even including laws requiring compulsory abortion, could be sustained under the existing Constitution if the population crisis became sufficiently [severe and] endanger society.”

Among Holdren’s ideas? A sterility drug in drinking water.

Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla., the senior member of the Environment and Public Works Committee, said the administration “assessment” is nothing more than a political ploy to try to help Democrats and Obama.

“This climate assessment seems conveniently timed for the week the Senate could be debating the need to approve the Keystone XL as well as expediting the export of liquefied natural gas,” said Inhofe, author of “The Greatest Hoax: How the Global Warming Conspiracy Threatens Your Future.”

“Now that another climate change billionaire, Tom Steyer, has entered the scene and put at least $100 million on the campaign table, the president and my colleagues are jumping at opportunities to sideline critical domestic energy opportunities for the United States and instead discuss global warming alarmism,” he said.

“Fear tactics and money are powerful tools in politics.”

Inhofe said that with his report, the president is “attempting to once again distract Americans from his unchecked regulatory agenda that is costing our nation millions of job opportunities and our ability to be energy independent.”

“If the president’s climate change agenda is about more than just fundraising, electioneering and social engineering, then I strongly urge the president to first start convincing the American people of his convictions by enforcing transparency and accountability within his Environmental Protection Agency,” Inhofe said.

“This starts with ending the political gimmickry of the systematic delaying of regulations, which is leaving Americans blinded to their devastating effects until after critical elections. We saw the Obama administration intentionally delay EPA regulations until after the 2012 presidential elections, and we are seeing it again today with the decision to withhold the new power plant rule an unprecedented 66 extra days so that it doesn’t have to be finalized until well after the 2014 elections,” he said.

  1. “Approve KEYSTONE so that Americans can get more cheap oil”

While the Keystone XL pipeline is not the environmental disaster that its opponents claim, at the moment there is nothing to approve because dubious actions by the state of Nebraska have tied up the pipeline route through that state in lawsuits that aren’t getting resolved quickly. And even if it is built it won’t result in more oil for Americans; the idea is to get Canadian oil to export terminals in Texas to send to other countries.

I actually sent a letter to the official comment site urging approval for the pipeline, largely because the alternative means of transport is rail which is far more dangerous. But don’t pretend that this is about making petroleum products cheaper for Americans. It is about profits for oil companies.

  2. Unfortunately, our president and his minions possess political savvy that the Republicans are always struggling to keep up with
They are light years ahead of the Republicans in reshaping amd reframing the political discourse of the country and of the world at large, and are effecting social and economic changes and realigning America’s allegiances in ways that will profoundly alter many aspects of our lives and our relationships with other nations for many years to come or hopefully until Moshiach comes bekarov.

  3. Charlie (#4), You are always fast and loose with the facts. You cleverly made up a “pretend” headline quote about Keystone XL approval so that Americans can get “more cheap oil”.

And why the pejorative reference about profits for oil companies? Is this not what they are in business for?

More oil production in the U.S. allows more stability for all segments of our economy. This brings in more profits for business and industry which all Americans — not just the oil companies — are able to benefit from.

It is high time that we kick out the bums in Washington that are holding our economy hostage to this “global warming” HOAX!
