Interpreter Comments on UN Bias Against Israel in Hot Mic Gaffe

un-united-nationsThe United Nations General Assembly, acting through its Fourth Committee, comprised of all 193 UN member states, on Thursday adopted nine resolutions condemning Israel, and none relating to any other country, including contentious states such as Syria or Iran. While most of the diplomats in attendance sat silently, an unlikely voice of protest came from the translator’s booth.

Unaware of the “hot mic” in front of her, the interpreter broadcast her opinion to everyone at the General Assembly: “I mean, I think when you have five statements – not five – like a total of 10 resolutions on Israel and Palestine, there’s gotta be something, c’est un peu trop, non? [It’s a bit much, no?] I mean, I know there’s other really bad [stuff] happening, but no one says anything about the other stuff.”

Many of the delegates laughed, and the interpreter, horrified that her real thoughts had been heard by her employers, apologized.

UN Watch caught the gaffe, footage of which can be viewed here.

  1. Good for her!

It’s her employers who should be humiliated and apologize, not only for singling out Israel – in a way, that’s the least of it – but for the millions of people who have in the past and are now languishing and suffering under despotic governments while the UN does nothing.

Shame on the delegates, as well, who sit in silence while hundreds of thousands are being killed, and make not a peep of protest.

  2. let these UN peacemakers go to all the Mideast countries they defend. Let them see how safe they’ll be. they’ll be lucky to get out alive.

  3. To #7:

I hear you. The question really is: Why are there still Jet fans? The team will never amount to anything. They will never win a Super Bowl. But yet, their fans are so arrogant. They are like Democrats who are gaga over Obama no matter how much he messes up this Country.
