Iran is throwing its jets into the game. The first Iranian plane was recently spotted on Al Jazeera footage bombing ISIS targets inside Iraq.
The aircraft, an F-4 Phantom, is only in the service of Turkey and Iran in the region, but Turkey has refused to assist Kurdish forces so far.
Iran has ramped up its assistance to the Iraqi army and there are reports that there is some level of cooperation with the American-led airstrikes, though that has been denied by the Obama administration. Read more.
