Irving Cohen, who was known around the Catskills for his canny ability to seat just the right nice Jewish boy next to just the right nice Jewish girl during his half-century as the maître d’ of the Concord Hotel, died on Monday at his home in Boca Raton, Fla. He was 95. His son Bob confirmed the death.
By all accounts the borscht belt’s longest-serving maître d’hôtel, Mr. Cohen worked at the Concord, in Kiamesha Lake, N.Y., from his early 20s until he was in his early 80s. He would have worked there longer, he said, had the hotel not closed in 1998. Read the full report at the New York Times.

Eis Tzara he liYaakov! This is truly terrible! We are bereft of leadership! Who will lead us now to Mashiach? Who will guide us? Who will be our role model now? This won’t be easy to recover from! Even though its Chal Hamoed, we must gather in all Shuls to pour out our hearts to HKB”H!
Wow a shadchan who worked for free. BD’E
