[Final numbers below.] Isaac Akerman has won the open seat on the Lakewood Township Committee by a landslide, securing a GOP majority for at least another year. Isaac, a 34-year-old Republican, garnered more than 8,400 votes, beating Democratic opponent and former Township mayor Marta Harrison by an almost 50-point margin.
Harrison, 54, captured just more than 3,000 votes.
Isaac had the support of many senior citizens as well as the frum community. He was endorsed by the Vaad of Lakewood.
The final poll numbers are as follows:
REP – Albert Akerman 10,514 70.47%
DEM – Marta Harrison 4,211 28.22%
Write-In 195 1.31%
