U.S. Spends $9M a Day Fighting ISIS

isisThe Pentagon revealed Thursday the U.S. has spent more than $2.7 billion fighting ISIS militants since attacks began last August, with an average daily cost reaching more than $9 million.

The Defense Department released a detailed outline of costs, showing that the Air Force has been responsible for two-thirds of total spending, or more than $1.8 billion.

The Army spent $274 million on training and special-forces troops on the ground while the Navy spent $438 million for fighters and other ship support.

The report also showed secret special-operations costs totaled more than $200 million since August.

The report came as Congress rejected legislation that would have barred military spending on combat operations until a new war powers resolution was passed. Read more.
