Israel is completely unprepared to deal with victims of trauma in the event of a large-scale war, according to the Health Ministry.
This frank admission was made yesterday to the Knesset’s State Control Committee by Bella Ben-Gershon,Director of the Department of Trauma and Emergency Preparedness at the Ministry of Health.
“It’s a fact that the system is still not ready,” said Committee Chairwoman and Yesh Atid MK Karin Elharar, noting that the treatment for residents of the Gaza border was inadequate during Operation Protective Edge in 2014. “The Health Ministry must hurry up, coordinate with all the agencies, and put together a protocol for emergency treatment of trauma victims.”
