Israel Strikes Syria Site Allegedly Tied to Chemical Weapons

Israeli rockets reportedly hit a military site in Syria that has been linked to chemical-weapons production by independent monitors and other countries. The Syrian army released a statement claiming the strike killed two soldiers and warned of the “dangerous repercussions of this aggressive action to the security and stability of the region.”


The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights claimed the strike hit a Scientific Studies and Research Centre facility, which the U.S. has claimed makes chemical weapons for President Bashar al-Assad’s regime. Just 24 hours earlier, the United Nations announced in a report that the Syrian government was responsible for the April sarin poison-gas attack on civilians that killed more than 80 people.
