State Comptroller Joseph Shapira will review complaints about the distribution of gas masks.
MK Nachman Shai (Labor) asked Shapira to review the matter. Other complaints were posted on the Office of the State Comptroller’s Facebook page from foreign caregivers to elderly and handicapped people who were unable to obtain gas masks.
The Office of the State Comptroller said that, over the years, it had examined the issue of gas masks several times, and found flaws.
In the State Comptroller’s latest report, published in August, Shapira warned that no gas masks had been produced for part of the population, despite a government decision that everyone should have a gas mask. He also warned that authority and responsibilities in the home front were not organized.
Shapira has asked Knesset State Control Committee chairman MK Amnon Cohen (Shas) to hold an urgent meeting on the flaws in the home front that the State Comptroller’s latest report had uncovered.
