Tamar Zandberg, the leader of Israel’s left-wing Meretz party, met Sunday with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah.

Zandberg, a strong advocate for a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, has met with Abbas on past occasions. She was joined in her meeting by Arab-Israeli Meretz lawmaker Issawi Frej.

“We came here with a message of peace. To convey the message that peace is an issue that must be at the center of the elections and be on the agenda of the next government,” Zandberg told Abbas. “Peace will ensure the security of Israel and it is in the interest of both peoples. The road to peace is by entering into negotiations for two states, and this is what should be on the agenda of the next government,” she continued, adding that her party would work to advance the issue during and after Israel’s April 9 national elections.

  1. They’ll give Abu Mazen all of Jerusalem, Tel Aviv and Haifa in exchange for peace! And they’ll throw in B’nei Brak as a good will gesture!

  2. The Left in Israel, like in the US, are the minority. There’s no way they can win the election other than by fraud which is how the house won in the US.
