Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a security assessment of the escalating situation vis a vis Gaza at the IDF’s headquarters in Tel Aviv.

Following the meeting, an Israeli official said that “Hamas suffered a severe blow. Israel will continue to act with force.” During the meeting, Prime Minister Netanyahu and Defense Minister Avigdor Liberman instructed the IDF to prepare for any possibility should the situation deteriorate further.

Netanyahu is scheduled to hold a meeting with the political-security cabinet at 6 PM.

For the first time since 2014’s Operation Protective Edge, a rocket exploded on the outskirts of Be’er Sheva. No casualties were reported. Police sappers defused the rocket.

Since Wednesday evening, more than 180 rocket launches from the Gaza Strip have been landed in Israeli territory. The Iron Dome missile defense system intercepted more than 30 of them and most fell in open areas.

Israeli Air Force fighter jets attacked a number of terrorist cells along the Gaza Strip in response, including a military compound of the East Rafah battalion, a shaft of a Western combat tunnel west of Jabalya, and two tunnels adjacent to the coast in the central Gaza Strip belonging to Hamas.

  1. “Hamas suffered a severe blow. Israel will continue to act with force.” Yes, sure. Whom are you fooling but yourselves? Everyone knows that Israel hit empty targets leaving Hamas terrorists ready to continue.

  2. I don’t think blowing up empty buildings affected Hamas very much.

The left wing Israeli politicians, who are always looking behind their back at what the rest of the world thinks, need to untie the hands of the IDF, and direct it to kill every single Hamas operative.

  3. Empty words! If it really is as severe as they claim , then why does Hamas continue their attacks? The Israelis just want to believe that they gave then a “severe blow” , but the job hasn’t been completed. Completion will be achieved only when they totally eradicate Hamas once for all. ; so the innocent Israeli civilians can lead normal lives without the constant barrages from Hamas!!!!6

  5. As in the past, Israel targets the economic infrastructure of Gaza to punish the leaders. At the end of the battle, Hamas tried to return to status quo, but cannot as its infrastructure (ie. empty building) are no longer there to support their efforts. It takes years and money to rebuild, leaving less time and money for further provocation.
