Israeli Officials Condemn Attack

yishai shlisselPoliticians across Israel have condemned today’s attack at the toeivah parade in Yerushalayim.

Israeli Prime Minister Bibi Netanyahu:

“We are talking about an extremely severe incident. The personal responsible for this act will be brought to justice. In the State of Israel freedom of choice for the individual is one of the basic values… It is incumbent upon us to ensure that in Israel every man and woman should live in the way they choose. That is how we have acted and will continue to act. I wish a speedy recovery to the wounded.”

President Reuven Rivlin at an event marking 30 years of the Israeli Opera:

“We came together today for a festive event, but the joy was shattered when a terrible hate crime occurred here in Jerusalem, the capital of Israel. People celebrating their freedom and expressing their identity were viciously stabbed. We must not be deluded, a lack of tolerance will lead us to disaster. We cannot allow such crimes, and we must condemn those who commit and support them. I wish the injured a full and speedy recovery.”

Knesset Speaker Yuli Edelstein:

“This is a shameful act which should be denounced unreservedly [and it will] widen social rifts and bring us to the abyss. It is our duty to ensure that every sector of society has freedom of expression, but to never use violence.”

MK Yariv Levin:

“The stabbing at the pride march is a shocking hate crime and a serious and intolerable incident that we as a moral society must not accept. Shameful and despicable violence such as this in the center of Jerusalem does not represent the beautiful face of Israel. It deeply harms the image of the state in the world and can cause serious damage to the incoming tourism potential. The legal authorities must mete out justice to the stabber and punish him severely.”

  1. Regarding this man

    On the one hand,
As the mal’ach told the King of the Khazars
“your intentions are well meaning & desirable, but your actions leave much to be desired”
and in this case possibly counterproductive

    On the other,
    “Ashrechem she’taphasta al divrei Torah

  2. Such outrage! My oh my…
Why not simply call it what it is: An extremely provocative act that tipped a mentally unstable individual over the edge.
Leaders should call for common decency and the halting of provocative actions such as the senseless parade. And yes, at the same time, call for greater scrutiny of individuals known to suffer from mental disease.

  3. I am deeply pained that the Matzav quote these blasphemy remarks by unholy individuals, I’m not Condoning the act of violence, however to express ideas that it is another way of life and a choice of “freedom ” is not acceptable for a Torah voice to express!!

  4. It’s comments like these that spread hate and encourage people to commit these acts. When you keep demonizing people and say that they are a corrupting force, you cannot then be surprised when someone commits these actions. Their blood is on your hands as well.

Shame on Matzav for even publishing these comments, which praise the attacker and blame the victims.

  5. Wonder what would the politically correct crowd say about Pinchas. However it’s up to Hashem to define what’s normal and who is an extremist buffoon. Perhaps it is the fascist toeivah mafia that is violent, extreme, and psychopathic.

  6. #6 Wicked

Do you shake lulav?what for?How come? this is more stringent
Do you fast on yom kippur ?what for?How come? this is more stringent
Do you keep shabbos?how come?what for?this is more stringent
Do you refrain from murder? How come? this is more stringent

should show more tolerance of all those who supported the nazis ,who after all were being victimized by world jewry

  7. One would almost suspect that the GSS released this man to stab again ,in order to malign those of us who are believers in morality

    a la yigal Amir

  8. To #7 How can you even put this psychopath’s name in the same sentence as Pinchas. Look at what the miforshim write about what Pinchas did and who he was. This lunatic would kill anyone he thinks is not doing Hashems will. Today he tried to kill these marchers Tomorrow if he had a chance it could be anyone G-D forbid.

  9. Does anyone reads the details ? this man was released from the penitentiary only 3 weeks before stabbing, a sick man ,a deranged individual, the tragedy is that he is dresses in Chasidic garb
