israel-taxiTaxi and sheirut fares in Israel will rise 3.8% tomorrow, reports Globes. The israeli Ministry of Finance said today, “Revising the prices is carried out according to the supervision order for merchandise and services signed between the Ministries of Finance and Transport and the recommendations of the joint committee of the two ministries.”

The rise in taxi fares reflects the rise in prices of inputs in the field, mainly diesel prices. The starting price for a daytime taxi ride will rise from NIS 11.80 to NIS 12.30. Ordering a taxi by phone will cost NIS 5.20 instead of NIS 5 and the price of a third passenger will rise from NIS 4.70 to NIS 4.90, according to Globes.

Taxi fares have not been revised since a 6% hike in March 2012.
