When Jack Lew was appointed chief of staff to President Obama in January, many in the Jewish community wondered how he could observe Shabbos in such a demanding position.
Luckily, Lew has the most powerful man in the world to keep track of time as the sun starts to dip low in the sky on Friday afternoons.
“I saw the president on many occasions on Friday afternoons look at his watch, and ask: ‘Isn’t it time for you to get going?'” Lew said, “or, ‘Why are you still here?’ The president was not checking the clock “because he doesn’t think I can keep time,” Lew said. Rather, the extra care on this issue reflects the President’s wish “to remind me that it’s important to him, not just to me, that I be able to make that balance.” Read more here.

Nice try – you’re loosing your job boy, and now you’ll maybe start keeping your Judaism properly…
Hey, everyone does a few things right from time to time, it’s called statistical noise I think. Kol HaKavod.
reply to #2:
yeah right. with this corrupt country dont be surprised if obama wins. if the race is this close and obama leads many states dont be surprised with the stupid people of the u.s. dont get me wrong as i am voting for romney.
I agree totally with number 6. People honestly believe that Obama is leading our country towards the good…
you know what stalin said “its not the votes that count, but who counts the votes”…
WHO IS COUNTING THE VOTES?
Let him not do us such favors
Vhayu melochim omnayich.
Yeshaya 49:23.
nice try but that not going to make me vote for you obama. your insane & husaine at the same time. go back to kenya
I think that the issues we have with the President are mostly his policies and philosophy, not personal evil.
This is a shomer shabbos guy who is trying to help our country, good for him. How dare any of the commenters question his relationship with hashem?
And his boss is trying to keep an eye out for him and be sure he doesn’t feel pressured to work down to the wire. I wish my co-workers and bosses were always this respectful of my need to leave early for Shabbos.
This is a nice story. Just because you disagree with someone’s politics doesn’t mean they can’t do anything right.
Obama is far less dangerous golfing or being a Shabbos “helper” than in doing his official job.
Oh, this is just pathetic…you know, many virulent Jew haters have employed Jews because they were the most competent and skilled employees. Not out of any affection for the Jewish people. See Nixon et al. Or King Ferdinand, or Achashverosh, shall I go on? Just because you have a Jewish employee working for you, does that make you worthy of the Jewish and Zionist vote, even though everything you have done shows your support lies elsewhere?
Please, Matzav, don’t fall for this garbage.
