Japanese PM: No More WWII Apologies

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo AbeJapanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Friday expressed “profound grief” over the country’s role in World War II, but did not apologize for Japan’s actions. Instead, he reiterated statements expressed by the country’s prior leaders.

“Japan has repeatedly expressed the feelings of deep remorse and heartfelt apology for its actions during the war,” he said. “Such position articulated by the previous cabinets will remain unshakeable into the future.”

The country’s future generations should not “be predestined to apologize,” he said. Read more at BBC News.

  1. Yes they should have to apologize for their ancestors mistakes .empirial japan caused much tragedy in that region. But the world has to also acknowledge that this generation of Japanese aren’t the perpetrators. It wouldn’t kill the Japanese to make some form of apology/recognition to Korea so it could strengthen a future alliance to contain china.

  2. We don’t pay a lot of attention to the fact that Japan killed more Chinese people during World War II than the Nazis killed Jews. Their actions during the Rape of Nanjing were so horrible that an actual Nazi Party member named John Rabe intervened to save Chinese civilians — he is to the Chinese as Schindler (also a Nazi Party member) is to Jews. And Japan had already turned Koreans into slaves in pretty much every respect. Japan has a lot to apologize for. Never Again!
