During a town-hall event in Arizona on Thursday, Jeb Bush finally gave a straight answer about whether, as president, he would have authorized the Iraq War. “Here’s the deal: If we’re all supposed to answer hypothetical questions, knowing what we know now, what would you have done, I would have not engaged. I would not have gone into Iraq,” he said.

He was sure to add that the world is still a safer place because of the ouster of Saddam Hussein and that he does not want to take away from troops’ sacrifices.

“It’s very hard for me to say that their lives were lost in vain. In fact, they weren’t,” he said. “Their sacrifice is worth honoring, not depreciating.” Read more at NBC News.
