joe-scarboroughJoe Scarborough on Friday slammed The New York Times for its handling of the Jill Abramson firing, saying the paper “lied” and showed “stunning mismanagement.”

“The most damning blow for the men and the women is that the Times leadership put out statements that just weren’t truthful,” Scarborough said Friday on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.” “The New York Times lied trying to cover up their own mess.”

The Times has received backlash this week for its firing of Abramson, its executive editor who reports have said was paid less than her male predecessor, Bill Keller, when he held the position. New York Times Publisher Arthur Sulzberger Jr. in a memo to staff said the reports about unequal pay were untrue.

“It’s stunning that the Times, all day yesterday, were telling everybody inside and outside of the newsroom that, ‘Oh no, this had nothing to do with her being fired – the fact that she came and actually asked to be paid the same as a man,'” he added. “Stunning mismanagement.”

Scarborough, who is a POLITICO contributor, also said that the Times would have pounced on instances of unequal pay from someone like New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, a Republican.

“If Chris Christie had done something like this – with paying his office – the Times would have shredded him,” he said.

  1. You can be assured that in this daily culture of “appease me now or fire you later” culture of pain before suffering and suffering at the extended end of pain; there will always be a firing and a new hiring. But really, who knows how to play “hardball” with the turnip farm of the longevity of last resort.

Someone always cheats, someone always belches their own alphabet and someone even tries to break the bread of human redistribution against time’s concern.

Namely said, there is so much corruption in all corporate structures that you can not sleep unless you are at the top and then you will only sleep inverted.

Welcome to “how to make a buck” at choice.

    Terrible world.

  2. Shame on Mr. Sulzberger — a former Jew who converted to Episcopalian — for harassing a distinguished Jewish employee!
