boehnerRepublican House Speaker John Boehner will step down from his post as the country’s number-three elected official and leave Congress effective October 30, an aide told Yahoo News on Friday. The announcement came a day after Boehner fulfilled his dream to one day host the Pope at the Capitol.

“He is proud of what this majority has accomplished, and his Speakership, but for the good of the Republican Conference and the institution, he will resign the Speakership and his seat in Congress, effective October 30,” the aide said on condition of anonymity.

“The Speaker believes putting members through prolonged leadership turmoil would do irreparable damage to the institution,” the aide said.

  1. Just wait. This left wing Liberal will eventually join the Democrat Party, just like Lincoln Chafee, Arlen Specter, Charlie Crist, etc… Just another bleeding heart who was a plant for the Dems.

  2. Mr. Boehner is a good person but too naive and fickle to deal with the dirty, nasty Democrats. They want to destroy this country from within and the Republican heiarchy was given the chance by the frustrated nation to stop them but the Democratic fox is just that.
Sorry for the nation! It was Speaker Boehner who let Rangel off the hook when the latter deserved to be jailed – certainly not continue at his post!
