Supreme Court Justice George Karra, an Israeli Arab, sparked criticism by refusing to sing Hatikvah at a swearing-in ceremony for new Chief Justice Esther Chayut, Yisrael Hayom reported. In 2015, Supreme Court Justice Salim Joubran did not sing Hatikvah at a retirement ceremony for then Chief Justice Asher Grunis.
Former Justice Elyakim Rubinstein sprang to Karra’s defense, saying: “There is no reason why we should insist on having Israeli-Arab citizens recite words that do not reflect their background.”

I think it’s fine. People need to stop applying the American value system to Eretz Yisrael, which has a halachically different status. Medinat Yisrael needs to stop trying to be like the other nations and instead, fulfill its destiny as Eretz Yisrael as much as feasible without Mashiach in charge for the time being.
It’s obviously sort of weird for a non-Jew to sing, “We have not yet lost our hope of 2000 years to be a free Nation within our own Land.” Even if a non-Jew is fully Noachide, they never personally had any such 2000-year-old hope and it’s not their Land. Why should they have to sing “our Land” when it’s not?
