Having been hard hit by one of the worst storms in New York’s history and with Congress slow to help, many Staten Island residents are still struggling to recover from Hurricane Sandy. “The people of Staten Island are still suffering and feel neglected,” said Kars 4 Kids spokesman Steven Weldler. “Since the storm, we at Kars 4 Kids have been eager to chip in and do our part to help the community rebuild.”

As the Hurricane Sandy Disaster Relief Act works its way through Congress, many Staten Island residents are need of immediate and continued assistance. “It is an honor to be able to partner with so many amazing local organizations that are coming together for this event, which we at Kars4Kids have been planning since the storm struck,” said Weldler.

Over one thousand children’s coats will be distributed. In order to ensure that the coats are distributed appropriately to those who are truly in need, storm victims are asked to pre-register at www.kars4kids.org/sandyevent or by calling (718) 219-0061 and to bring their FEMA cards to the event.
